Yes, you inadvertantly applied an IT policy. You'll want to backup the device, then use "resettofactory"' in JL_Cmder and then restore your backup. Don't use the same machine or you'll just get the policy back. It's likely that someone used the old blank policy method of removing IT policy and that it's still loaded on that machine.

Default Verizon Update?! - 08-24-2008, 04:24 AM

I have tried to read thru EVERY post on this subject and I am still not sure. Is the 4.5 upgrade for VZW 8330 or not? Got mine 3 months ago, running 4.3, and on the BIS. Can I upgrade to this safely? Will it void my warrenty if something goes wrong? New to BB and forum, jumped ship from Palm after many years of nothing new! Please Help. Thank You.

(wow this took forever on a pc!!! I'm used to the auto caps and such....LOL)
If you want you can have a fresh start. Wipe the BB with this: How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Then follow this to clean uo the BB: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ee-memory.html

And if there is ever a problem you just re-install the O.S. on the PC and Re-run the App. Loader and your good to go.

The only thing I noticed was that I can't add color or icons to the new folders.

Did you delete the preinstalled wallpapers? If so, the colored folders are included in that .cod file. When 4.5.0.69 comes out it will bring back the colored folder icons without the wallpapers.

Yes, you can load this on your VZW 8330 (the first post says "ANY carrier's 8330." It will NOT void your warranty. You won't get support from Verizon for it but it won't void your warranty.

Just loaded this onto my VZW 8330, could not of been easier. Really have noticed much of a difference yet. It resetted some of my defaults. Had mai waiting for me when it rebooted. Sent down new sevices to be on the safe side. So far all is good.

Follow the instructions here:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/rim-...lackberry.html

It only works on emails received after the setup is complete.

There aren't any TCP options on CDMA devices. Not all emails come in html. They have to be formatted in html from the sender and arrive after the new service books are sent.

Thanks zerog46. I'll give that a try for sure! It's nice to have a place where you can get the info you need. I had tried searching, but haven't mastered it just yet.

That's the way it is they don't display automatically for anyone. I think it's a security issue.

okay. although its a bit misleading in the options because one of the options is "Download Images Automatically." I figured that would mean to download them automatically so that i dont have to manually do it.

Finally decided to try this update on my VZW 8330, clicked on link, went to MTS site, clicked on drop-down. See only 4.5 desktop mgr, already have this. Last night there was a different list in the drop-down. Where can I find this update for the 8330?

It is against the rules, only official RIM and carrier links allowed here.

Thanks for understanding.

DM 4.6 is available here: BlackBerry Desktop Manager Downloads - BlackBerryFAQ

I upgraded to 4.5.0.66 and had the same issue you mentioned. I uninstalled the BlackBerry Messenger, rebooted, and reinstalled it, and it seems to be behaving properly now.

Looks like they pulled it, could be for a number of reasons. Maybe BB caught wind that thousands of people with non-MTS devices are using it on their 8330s (or they're in the process of updating it to a newer version )

Moderator Sanders sort of blasted me for starting a new thread about this saying that "there was already a mention about this in another post". I was the one who first posted about this, was going to download last night, but was too late and did not have time. Now I wish I had stayed up and done it last night. It was still a working link when I went to bed.

Sorry if I broke some rule by starting a new post, was just trying to get some answers.

I'm currently running 4.5.0.56 and am having an issue with BBsmart Viewer. Its not showing email images because I get a "connection failure" during the connections setup under options. Anyone experiencing this?

RIM probably did the math. 10,000 subscribers at MTS, 1,000,000+ downloads.

Anyone know where to find a copy of this version for download? I need to reinstall my OS so I figured I would upgrade at the same time. PM me.

You weren't blasted, just gently reminded that there was a thread already focusing on this... this one.

You did nothing wrong, but all the same, keeping it all in one place and one thread makes this site much easier to travel for those bouncing about, rather starting a new thread to discuss what is being discussed here.

So is there nowhere else to get 4.5 now for the 8330? I FINALLY decided to download it today and give it a shot, only to realize that it got pulled! :(

Hmm, well, came across 4.5.0.66 on File Factory, so I guess I'll give it a shot. Found a few posts where people were saying it was better than the MTS version anyways, so hopefully I won't screw up my phone!

Hi, I didn't install docs to go the first time around. I just re-ran the install and clicked on repair instead of remove. I didn't have the option to select it. Do I need to remove 4.5 and re-install to select docs to go? Any issues I should be aware of before doing this? Thanks

John, can you give step by step directions? I am unclear on how to just restore the BBM database file(s) by itself. Thanks.

4.5.0.56 Alltel, no MMS, everything else seems to work fine. ARUGH. Alltel worked hard to get MMS going, receiving is spotty but sending aint happening. End result they were going to exchange my BB until I told him I would just load 4.3 back, he was excited that I actually was willing to reload the OS and it all came together for him I was USING 4.5, LOL. He said "I assure you we are currently working on 4.5". I quietly chuckled.

I gotta find 4.5 with MMS working.

So RIM can just do this, and screw over any and every MTS Mobility customer desiring an upgrade? Just because others MIGHT be downloading it and using it?

That hardly makes any sense.

Then again, I don't know why I'm upset over it, I already got mine.

I'm hoping they re-release it soon... At least before I lose my patience and try to get my hands on the OS by some other means(which may or may not result in a sucessful update :p ) . I keep on telling myself that RIM will re-release it when they get the kinks out, sigh...
