Does facebook mobile require internet? My friend has it on his phone (not a BB) and he says it just sends him SMS texts whenever something happens. True?

I have the app and it uses the internet. I think it polls facebook for updates. So I'm sure you will need a data plan of some sort.

Not sure about other phones. There might also be a setting on the site to send SMS texts to your phone.

Well, I thought that facebook mobile just allowed you to connect to a website using your phone's browser and do various stuff. But he told me that what he has just sends him notifications via sms text. I guess I'll just look more into it.

With the app it brings it to your phone. But, then when you go into the app it allows you to go the the FB mobile site. Mine will popup a little FB icon at the top of the screen with a little "F" logo saying i have new updates/requests/msgs whatever. Not an SMS text.

Alright, I got it. You're able to set your preferences up so it will send you texts when you get a message, wall post, etc. And no internet access

Good morning. I woke up to a FB icon on my home screen yesterday, and I want it removed. Applications didn't have anything, and I can't think of any where else I could go to remove it. I don't want to just Hide it. It seems to just be a bookmark on my home screen since it opens a browser when I click on it.

Thanks,
Jonathan

There may be a entry in your Service Books list for Facebook. You can check by going to Options > Advanced Options > Service Books.

I always thought it used email, because you have to link an email account to your Facebook account.

So that email was used to determine if you received any new Facebook notifications, and the Facebook app just streamlined it.

I think I looked there also, but don't think I saw anything. I'll try again after work. Thanks.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry Curve 8320)

No, there isn't. You do need a BlackBerry data plan. But the application is free.

Sorry, kinda got lost there...can you pick e-mail, or text? My work does not allow texting on the business Blackberrys, but I have unlimited data and e-mail, etc.
