Default help with blackberry curve 8330

Please Login to Remove!

I bought a blackberry curve 8330 off craigslist and when I went to hook it up through sprint they told me it was either lost or stolen. Yeah could'nt believe I let myself get taken like that but just curious, is there a way to unlock the phone. any advise would be great, thanks

If it's been reported as lost or stolen you are out of luck. Try getting you money back from the seller, but I am betting that will be just as fruitless, but one can hope.

I don't believe that a CDMA phone, like your 8330, can be unlocked like a GSM phone can. You may want to research further into this.

Unlocking a phone gives you the ability to take it to another carrier but has nothing to do with the PIN or IMEI being disabled because it was stolen.

You could try to see if you can find the owner. If you can show them that you innocently bought the phone, they may be able to call sprint and allow the phone to be activated, that is assuming that they have already replaced it. Sprint may also be able to contact them for you.

It can't hurt to ask, and it's better than being out a phone!!

Welcome to the forums.

CDMA carriers do not allow other carrier devices on their networks "yet" as far as I am aware.

In addition, I know it is too late for you, but for future reference or for any other users reading this thread, take a look at this Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ
