I have the 8330 on Verizon's network. When I receive an email and take the device out of its case, it automatically opens the email received. Is there a way to turn off this feature? If the device is already out of the case and an email is received it does not automatically open the email - this is what I want in both situations!

Turning that off is not a feature. Don't remove the BB from the case for about 15-20 seconds, and it won;'t open automatically.
