Question Syncing with Outlook

Please Login to Remove!

I'm a new Blackberry owner; just sync'd with my Outlook 2003; but what I got is all messed up! Everything came over sorted by first name instead of last, with some dups and some entries (lots of email addresses without names or phone #s) I dont' even see on my contact list (accress cards) on my PC.

I was expecting an exact copy of what I see on my organized and sorted-by-last-name contacts list (address cards). How do I clean up or delete what's coming over???

Thanks, didn't find this problem about syncing when searching this thread - appreciate any help!!

Welcome to the BBForums.

First, you can set your BlackBerry address book to sort/show by First, Last or by Last, First, or by Company. Look at Address Book > Menu > Options > Sort by.

The data will transfer according to how you have set it to do so, either sync both to and from the BB and Outlook, or only FROM Outlook to the BB or from the BB to Outlook. Look at your settings in the Desktop Manager > Sync to make sure it is as you desire the data to transfer.

At this point, if your contacts are all messed up in your BlackBerry, I would recommend this: Get your contacts all in order as you want them to be in Outlook, and make sure all is correct there. Then follow this FAQ to clear your BB Address Book and resync all from Outlook again, correctly.

Good luck.

Follow these instructions and clear the handheld database for Address Book, configure sync again.
