Hi,

I use my BB 8300 in the car for navigation but during daylight the red message led is just not visible and the alert tone is just not loud enough to hear while driving.

I would like to stay on top of incoming emails so is there any way to "announce" incoming emails with a bit more authority? I was thinking perhaps there is an app that gives you a pop-up screen or that plays a really loud tone, but only in the car and not at night, of course!

uhm... assign any sound you want to a new email notification. ringtone, mp3, whatever you want

Pocketday can turn on your back light when you receive an email.

I would prefer a visual notification. A loud sound as notification will also go off at 3 in the morning so no, that's not the answer.

I am using BBLight already so the backlight is always on while in the cradle.

If you search the forum there are some loud mp3s around.

Setup a new profile, pick the ring tone that works for you and turn the volume up in the profile...

Guys, thanks for taking the time to respond, but you are not listening to what I am saying! If I choose an obnoxious loud tone then the whole house will wake up when I get an email at 3 in the morning. Not an option!

Why don't you do as Cravefan says with a loud tone and auto turn off your BB at night? That will stop you from getting any notification at 3 in the morning.

The alternative is to create a new "car" profile that you turn on when you get in your car and off when you get out...

Answer=yes. then do the car profile thing, or pocketday as suggested.

Answer=no. then it's easy. Set your BB to turn off, at say midnight but pick any time at night you wish to turn it off. and have it turn on the same time you wake up.

Mine is set to shut off at 12:30am, and back on at 6:30am
at 6:30am it will get all that e-mail you received during the night and it will all be there, with only one noise/light/loud bang etc.

Yeah, that's a decent way to do it, thanks for the suggestion. It's still not 100% what I want/need because there will be times during the day when a loud obnoxious email alert just isn't appropriate, i.e. a business meeting, doctor's office, etc. It would be great if there was a setting that you would get a loud tone only when the unit was plugged in, i.e. the car cradle or when Telenav was running...

I would still prefer a visual notification like a pop up screen but I guess it's not (yet) possible.
