Default Connect to an IMAP server

Hi,

Can someone please help before I commit murder on a Blackberry, I’m an IT person that has just purchased a new Blackberry 8310 phone on Vodafone and I just can not get the dame thing to receive emails even after 1 hour on the phone to Vodafone last night!!!! I don’t want to use BES and all I am trying to do is connect to my IMAP server.

I have not changed any configuration settings on the phone and I have been the Vodafone internet mail web site and setup an email address to my IMAP server which it appears to like and connect to and setup a filter that say when email arrives sent to device. My IMAP server works as I receive emails to my Desktop pc.

I can browse the internet using “Vodafone live” but I do notice that in the services it does says that the Internet server is “Not Connected”?

Please can any tell me what’s wrong or I am taking that thing back today and getting a refund.

For what it's worth I use fastmail.fm (IMAP) to forward mail to my phone. Works great. You may try to setup an account in fastmail as a test and port that to the BB.
