Default viewing videos problem

say i want to view one of my videos i have taken. the button on the right side controls my camera function and this is usually how i switch over to my video camera. so if i do this, and click on the view videos and choose a video. it will most of the time start up for a second but then the screen will go instantly black, the led with stay red and the key pad is faintly lit. i can't do anything and have to restart it by a battery pull. any ideas on why it's doing this?

What happens if, instead of doing it that way, you go to homesceen and choose the media icon, then choose Vidoes, and play the video from there?

Is this happening when you have the BlackBerry connected to the PC? If so, make sure you do not have Mass Media mode enabled -- you can't view your media card contents on the device in that case.

If I chose the home screen and go that route, the several times I have tried that, it works fine. I just find it kind of weird how doing it the other way would make it lock up with a black screen like that.
And this is only happening when I'm looking at it on my blackberry itself.
