I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 and the other day I got a message notification for my AOL email. I selected to download the pictures but since it was taking a while I just deleted the email. Well a few minutes later I got a new message notification and it was for my AOL email. However, when I go into that inbox or my Messages inbox there is no new mail to be read. So now I have a 1 next to my messages and email with no unread messages in either.

How do I reset the notification?

try reconciling and see if that helps

Yeah did that a few times and cycled power. No-go.

nobody has any clue about this?
my phone did this 2 days ago as well.

I had 2 new emails. one i read, the other was spam and i did not read it or even open it at all.
I deleted both (delete Prior) and exited back to main home screen. It's been showing i have 1 unread e-mail ever since. tried reconciling, nothing.

any ideas?

Did you try removing the battery? That should clear the message indicator.

I was just about to come here and edit my post.

This happened almost immediately after a battery pull. In another thread i'm having problems with the OS remembering settings for themes. I pulled the battery to swap the sim card for a few hours, and everything reset on the BB again... spent another 20 min setting the theme back up. If i do a battery pull i'm back to reconfiguring the theme again... a Battery pull is the LAST thing i'll do. and after i know it is the cure.

so if anyone else has had this problem and knows that the battery pull is the solution. i'll do that, and for the 400th time reconfigure my theme. (which is getting so annoying, i'm about to downgrade to 4.2... where i never had any issues)

It IS the cure. This same thing happens on html emails. If I ask it to "Get Images" but delete the email before all the images download I'll get the unread message indicator with no unread email. Removing the battery solves the problem. There is no other cure that I'm aware of.

The problem with the settings for the theme is a problem with the theme. It usually happens with the today themes. There are many posts here about the theme resets.

I just pulled the battery and it fixed the problem. Not sure about the theme issue though. I am using one of the themes that came with the device. Everything is in order as far as that goes.

The theme issue is a known issue with some of the OS 4.5 themes.

OK so, I had this problem as well - BB shows 1 unopened email, which doesn't exists. I checked all three email boxes, and there is nothing. All are opened. I also did, on the BES box, a "mark prior opened". And I did a hard reset, battery out, twice.

And yet, it still says 1 unread message. Its taunting me.

Any other ideas anyone has to reset this damn thing?

Oh yeah, also, I did a search on email for all unopened items, and it shows none.

I have had the same issue before, and found that when a new e-mail came in, and I opened it, it cleared the counter.
