Default How To Clean Dust from Under Neath the Plastic Cover

Please Login to Remove!

Hey just got done making a quick YouTube Video on how you can remove the dust from behind the plastic lens cover on your Curve. This was driving me crazy and I've seen this on multiple devices. Unfortunately my carrier wont do anything about it so I did.

If using a screwdriver use the smallest one you can to pry it open. I used a fingernail. If you have lots of dust under the cover chances are the adhesive used to secure it is loosening up so it should come up fairly easy. Take your time and pry it slowly. Don't yank on it.

Check out the video!

Wirelessly posted (By Super Blackberry)

Very good video, my only concern is once you take the cover off and even glue it back on does it hold?

Well, the whole reason dust gets under the screen is because that very seal doesn't hold real well. Removing it will allow you to clean the dust out but you will likely get the dust again and probably have even more dust and have it sooner.

Be VERY careful with superglue as it eats plastic and one drop in the wrong place (or on your finger and your finger touches the lens or housing) and your lens and/or housing is marred for life.

The best way to fix dust under the screen is to replace the front housing. That way you get a new lens already sealed to the front housing.

CA Model glue sticks like superglue but wont eat the plastics. Perfect alternative to superglue. This fix takes 3 minutes at best and is FREE. If your like me and don't have torx screwdrivers and dont want to wait to have a new lens cover sent out then this is the best and easiest solution possible. As noted be very careful on where you put the glue or you screw up your LCD screen.
