Default OS: 8330 4.5.0.90/4.5.0.66 (Multilanguage) - 09-04-2008, 09:51 AM

Edit: 09/05/2008: USCellular has pulled the link. We'll post back when it's added back. Sorry folks.

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.90 (Multilanguage)
for the 8330 model, from US Cellular

Package Version: 4.5.0.90
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.66
  • Software Platform: 3.2.0.48
  • File name: 8330uAMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel90_PL3.2.0.48_A4.5.0.66_USCC .exe
  • File size: 68.05MB

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B58CE00D1194C9

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8330:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. Click here to download, if needed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Then Download the above mentioned OS file to the PC and install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

You have the same issue when hitting the send button and it takes a second to answer it?

So, just upgraded on a VZW 8330 to this OS. As with other upgrades, it went through without a hitch. What I can tell you so far is that the delay in picking up calls appears to have been fixed with the update. I had someone call me right away and as soon as I hit send we were connected.

Will try to report back on other stuff once I have some time to play around.

Just upgraded my Verizon 8330 from 4.3 to this version and it worked awesome. However, I am not getting HTML e-mails, in fact there isn't even an option in the message settings to enable or disable HTML e-mail as shown here (BlackBerry Search Results)

I used exchangemymail hosted BES. They support it. I resent service books as well and did a battery pull. No dice. Help?

Superb, going to upgrade now. The delay in answering in 4.5.0.56 was painful.

Try *228 and select Option 1 to reprogram your phone. Supposedly VZW doesn't allow access to the service books like other carriers. This should help.

Sorry.... this was for MPScan... I can't post links yet since I don't have 10 posts, but I am getting there.

As another update...

Opera Mini - running great
Seems like the built in BB browser is also running a little faster.
As with other beta's pre-loaded pics are gone but no biggie.
Overall, my phone seems to be running a little faster.

Can't wait to see if this helps with battery life which seems to be one of the better selling points of the 4.5 upgrades.

4.5.0.56 has been great in regards to battery life. Full morning of use and I'm still at 95%. Hopefully .66 will be the same.

So far so good. It appears the answering delay is gone or better.

Still having occasional Opera Mini Java errors tho since coming to 4.5 :(

Again, good to know. I have tried logging into the BIS and resending the service books but nothing really happened. Then I read in another thread that they didn't allow access so was just passing that along. Thanks for the update!!

Worth upgrading from .77 to this one (.90)? I'd hate to lose my Google Map favorites list AGAIN, the 4th time in a week for no good reason :P

And yes, I heard through the grapevine that it fixes that 1.5 sec call pick-up delay.

You're comparing your Application Version to this one's Build/Release version. This is older than what you are running.

Not sure about how it would be for Telus, but this upgraded my Verzon device to .66 and not .90 so you are ahead of the curve there. I have never had .77 so I can't comment on the differences.

EVERY OS we have listed in stickies is listed this way. Build or Release version/App Version. We generally refer to the OS by it's App version.

The problems previous. When you hit send it HAD a delay gone. The Automatic Flash on taking pictures (camera) FIXED. The video camera AUTOMATIC LIGHT still does not work unless you turn the light ON manually....

Hello All...

Attempting to update a friends Sprint 8330 using DM 4.5. When attempting the install, I get the following error:
Invalid Configuration
The application "Browser" cannot be loaded because it requires the following applications that are not available:
net.rim.blackberry.alx
I have update a handful of BB but my first attempt to a Sprint phone. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

No. I went and double checked that after I 1st saw the error and it is still there. Only deleted the vendor file. I did edit the blackberry.alx so the O2 themes showed up, but that is all.
