Default Keypad not responding to certain letters!

Please Login to Remove!

Since about Tuesday my keypad has not been recognizing the Z, C, N, M & Spacebar.

As you could imagine, this is very irritating. Does anyone know of a solution? I would try the hard reset but dont you have to type "blackberry" for it to take effect? I wouldn't be able to do this since I can't type C.

Thanks for the help.

Have you pulled the battery out for 20 seconds?

Yes, I have pulled it for a few minutes and it still didn't do anything. Those keys came back for about 5 minutes but now they are completely dead again. I would just get a new one but I'm out of the one year warranty so I'm kind of stuck until May. Any other thoughts?

Did you ever get any moisture on it?

My first suggestion is moisture damage. Your symptoms are often a sign of such.

I really didn't think that I did. The two white spots on the back of the phone under the cover are both still white. Is there any other way to determine if I did? How should I try and dry the phone if that is the case?

Could this be fixed by taking the keyboard from the one that works and putting it on the one that is faulty?

Yes, that could very well fix it. Even though the stickers are white, you could have gotten a drop of liquid in the keyboard.

My experience and seeing the posts here in the BBF, the keyboards are quite sensitive to moisture. Try your swap and see.

Good luck.
