Hey guys,

Uh...how do I send a text message? No, seriously...

I just got a Curve off of eBay. Everything's working perfectly...EXCEPT...I can't figure out how to send text messages!

In messages, when I hit the menu key, I have the following options:

Compose e-mail
Compose PIN
Place Call
Blackberry messenger.

"Compose SMS" is absent! Seriously, I feel like an idiot, but what's going on?

Sounds like your new/used BB has an IT policy restricting sms usage.

I recommend upgrading to OS 4.5 and using Method 1 of the following thread:

I think that's it! I'm on the AT&T network and it's an AT&T branded phone. When I go to https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do , and select AT&T, the most recent version listed is still 4.2. How should I go about getting the 4.5? Thanks!

Which model Curve do you have?

If you look in the Forum under the 8300 Group, find the sticky thread at the top that matches your model number. If it's indeed an ATT branded BB it is likely an 8310 and this is the sticky.

Ooops...no, sorry. Just got a Curve today and haven't updated my profile yet. I'll do that right now. Can I get 4.5 on the Curve?
