It scrolls perfectly, it just wont let me click down. Like with the trackball. It's annoying. Sometimes it works. Sometimes I have to use enough pressure that I could break the phone.


Any ideas?

Sounds like the contact under the trackball is wearing out. Not good.

Thats weird.... I only had the phone for less than a month.

Do you keep it holstered, or in your pocket? The latter would likely result in premature problems with the trackball, as lint and "pocket junk" can accumulate underneath.

I do keep it in my pocket. But still, less than a month or two? C'mon. That's unreal.

Well... you must have real dirty pockets!

Yes in a month you can certainly accumulate enough pocket lint to start affecting the operation.

So do you think it's the trackball or the inner stuff in the phone?

If you're keeping in your pocket I'd bet the farm that a piece of lint has become lodged between the trackball and the contact beneath it.

Well before I go dissecting my trackball, I'm going to try and switch it with my sisters to see if thats the problem. If that resolves the problem, I will either buy a new trackball or open it up.

If it's that new, it's likely it could just be dirty. Generally, when they stop "clicking" it's not a good sign. It's definitely worth a shot, though. Just use a small screwdriver to pop the chrome ring off. Pay attention to it's allignment so you can put it back together. There are three tabs that go at 3, 6, and 9oclock positions. Then the trackball will just fall out.

How are you going to switch it without removing the trackball?

I'm going to remove it but not like open the actual trackball.

yeah, don't try and disassemble the trackball/roller assembly. You will have a nice microscopic mess on your hands.
