Default Which Is The Newest OS Version? - 09-05-2008, 06:35 PM

OK, I seen the sticky about the latest OS versions. I also went to this site https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/browseSoftware.do but it says the latest version is 4.2.2.170. It also says the latest version of DM is 4.3.
Should I follow the sticky or follow this link?

I just want to download the OFFICIAL latest version.

What you need is here:

There is no official version from AT&T yet but it doesn't really matter. The above will work fine.

Thanks. Like I mentioned above, I've seen that thread. I couldn't find if it was an official version or not though. I went back to it and found my answer on the last page.

I come from an iPhone and used to frequent their forums. They always talked about jailbreaking and tweaking but I never wanted to do that. I know downloading a new version OS (if it's not completely official) isn't the same thing. But anyway, I think I will go ahead and download the newest version. You said it would work fine... I'm trusting you.

Thanks for your help. It's much appreciated!!

You will only find official OS's on this site. NO BETAS! That is an official version, just from a different carrier

Default What do I need to do? - 09-05-2008, 09:23 PM

I have been reading some of the post about upgrading to the newest OS 4.5 version and with being so new to BB I wanted to ask before I upgraded. I have a Curve 8330 with OS version 4.3 and am with Sprint.
I downloaded and installed the 4.6 DM and all is running well, no problems but do I need to upgrade the phone too?
I know someone said that on the new version OS that there is some added things like an equalizer for the music player so someone please advise so I may get this done without any mistakes!!

yes, you'll need the OS upgrade as well. However, the carriers that posted the OS have since pulled the file from the server so it's no longer available.

So, what do I do then? Can I get it from somewhere else and why did they pull it?

Don't know why they pulled it.

Many search the internet for it. We are not allowed to post links to unreleased software from RIM so I can't help you.

They did not "pull it". Just scroll down to the Blackberry Firmware section at the bottom - it's there...

I had a Newton in 1994 and WAY too many PDA's and PDA Phones to remember since...

US Cellular did pull the newest OS. If you click on the link for the latest OS release for the 8330, the 4.5.0.66 that was originally there is now gone.
