Default Hourglass issue won't get better - 09-06-2008, 04:10 PM

I have a BB Curve 8330 with os 4.3.0.127 from Verizon. I have BES. It seems lately that I am frequently getting the hourglass and have to wait several seconds when accessing programs. I have read Blackberry forums and I consistently am cleaning my memory by clearing out logs alt lglg, clear cache, clear maps, clean memory in Security, use Memory Up, close unused programs and never have memory less than 30000000bytes. There obviously is more going on other than the usual shortage of memory I read about all the time in forums. Does anybody have any other ideas what could cause an hourglass when there is more than sufficient memory available?

Wirelessly posted (Curve 8330 (red))

Do you have any non-standard applications running in the background? I had this a lot when I was running 4.3 and had Viigo Tango beta running in the BG.

Welcome to the forums.

I see that you clear your memory a lot. I don't see you mentioning pulling the battery. Have you tried pulling the battery out of the device for 30 seconds (while the device is powered on)?

If that doesn't clear up your issue, you may try to upgrade your OS. 4.5 is available for your device. Not released yet from Verizon, but there is an officially released version from another carrier. It is a sticky thread in the 8300 Discussion Forum.

Good luck

Also, this can be caused by themes. Do you have any 3rd party themes installed? Even if they're not in use?

I have a reset program which I use to reset my BB daily. I have the problem even without 3rd party programs open, and I don't have any third party themes, only what came with the BB. I hesitate upgrading to 4.5 when verizon gets the upgrade because of all the issues I read about that upgrade and people wanting to go back to 4.3.

Cool 8330 running hourglass - 09-24-2008, 12:35 AM

Hey, don't know if you've resolved this yet - but I saw on another post or forum to remove the facebook application. Once I did, the hourglass stopped running and everything went back to working correctly.

I am very curious about the model listed in your profile? The 9330??? What is your free memory? Hourglass is usually the result of low memory. Menu>options>Status (what is your file free?)
