Default Really Weird Issue after OS Update

Please Login to Remove!

Long time lurker, but first time posting...

Just updated my Curve to the newest versions of OS listed on the site. Did the OS update with no sim in, since i needed an active phone for work - popped my sim in, phone works great. Had email, internet, phone, etc, with no problems.

Long story short, my wife wants to switch from WinMo to blackberry, so I gave her my Curve (just got an 8820 from work). With her sim in, phone gets stuck in a resetting loop. 4 seconds of hourglass, 4 seconds of red LED. I've been searching for hours on how to fix this. Same thing happens with the Pearl and 8800. (Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, just want to get the curve fixed, she'll never use the other 2)

Just so you have all the info:
updated Curve to 4.5.0.55
Wiped handheld, so no 3rd party apps
Works fine with my SIM - older Cingular, non-3g sim
Hers is a newer 3g sim
tried powering on with radio off, no go
powers on with no sim installed fine

I've tried everything except wiping with jl_cmder, but didn't think that was necessary since the phone works with no sim and my sim installed. Any help here is greatly appreciated.

Is her sim card an older card? This could be the problem. I have seen instances of issues on this forum of folks using sim cards that were just to outdated for the BB. Have you tried putting your card back in? If it then works then you know it's the sim card.

My card is actually the older one, and it works perfectly fine. Her's is less than 6 months old, and is the one causing the problems.

Edit: did a wipe and reinstall of the OS, this time with her sim in the phone - got the phone to power up once, said "Insert Sim." Turned the phone off, the when turning back on, the same problem. Guessing its her sim, but if anyone has any other ideas, please let me know.

Judging by what you're saying it has to be her sim. Perhaps one of the contacts on her sim is worn and not connecting all the time. Regardless, you should concider taking her sim to ATT and getting it replaced.
