Smile Email Questions - Newbie here

Hey,
I just got my curve 8330 and I have two questions.

1. When I send a gmail from my computer, it shows up in my inbox. I have tried hiding the sent messages in my general options but this isn't working. Any suggestions?

2. When I check email on gmail, I delete a message. When I go to my phone a couple of hours later, it is in my inbox on my phone too. Other than plugging in my phone while I am on the computer, is there any way to stop this?

Thanks!!!!!

i may be wrong but i dont think there is way to stop that, its simply a notification that an email was sent. It doesnt do it normally on your computer since there is a seperate folder for your 'sent' items.

someone correct me if im wrong but thats the impression i have.

same thing happens to me but it doesnt bother me.

1.) See:

HOW-TO: Prevent G-mail "Sent Items" from being sent to your handheld.

2.) Deleting from PC will not remove from the BB. You can delete from the PC and the BB from the BB.

Good Luck and welcome to the forums!

I had this same issue.

Cause:

Gmail as you know uses the conversation method of doing e-mail. As such there is no differentiation between sent and recieved e-mails (they all end up in the Inbox).

Solution:

1.) Create a rule on the e-mail account to not forward e-mails with yourself (jondoe@gmail.com) to the device. I did not ever get this to work.

2.) Download the free gmail application. Very handy and allows you to look at all gmail folders as well as customize the notification for recieving e-mails. Very handy. My recommendation.

Hope this helps.

I don't mean to be nit-picky, but your use of the words rule and with lead me to believe that you're missing something, which is causing it not to work for you. What you need to do is setup a filter in the BIS settings for the Gmail account, and set it not to forward any email from your email address to your device. The way you have it worded makes it sound like you're possibly talking about a Gmail filter or a rule in Outlook or some other email client.

If it was working for you I wouldn't comment on your terminology, but since it's not I thought I might be able to clarify something.
