Default Question for ones having old TMO family plan.

Please Login to Remove!

Pardon me if this is not the right place to post. But I own 8320 and remember seeing some posters here claimed to be on old TMO family plan like we do. Hope to hear from these people...

Our TMO family plan is 5 year old (joined in 2003) that includes 300 monthly text messages. Last month I added a 3rd line for our daughter and just found out today that her phone/line isn't allowed to use these text message pool because "the feature is from an old promotion that no longer exists". Does this make sense? The 3rd line is part of our family plan (with $9.99 extra charge per month) but it can't share the available text messages in the plan? Doesn't sound right to me but I'd like to hear more opinions or advises before I decide what to do or say when I call TMO.

TIA!

Wirelessly posted (off to see the wizard)

It makes sense her line probably has a different code that is not compatible with the feature code of the text package. And once a code is retired it can no longer be added to.

It sucks. Are it all the time at work where someone has an old feature and as part of trouble shooting it gets removed but can't be readded as it is no longer an available feature

I am guessing that the feature c\de used for that text package is no longer available to be out on fcaughters line and that is why she can't use that package

Yea what EZ said, although my recommendation is to get the unlimited family text package for 15 bucks a month and that includes ALL lines on the family plan and unlimited text, pix, IM (through sms)

Being an engineer I can understand the problem in adding an old feature to our new line. However, I do think they have certain degree of obligation to fulfill what they offered us, even if it's an 5yr old plan. Well, say it in another way, 5 years ago when we signed up, we were told any additional lines will share all the features, and TMO never informed us that this is no longer true. Now we've passed the 2-week return period. I hope they can figure out a solution.

That's an interesting issue. I don't think it's a system issue where they can't add your daughter's phone line to use the existing 300 pool of texts. They are the mobile provider, they have way more control than that. Being with the family plan, I don't know why it should make a difference to them since the 300 texts is for the family to use to begin with.

I have a feeling that it's more of a policy or something to motivate you to upgrade to a newer plan. Technologically, it doesn't make sense that they can't do it.

I'm not sure if this will help, but when you call Tmob customer service, sometimes you can ask for a BlackBerry specialist. They handle most issues related and unrelated to BBs, but they seem to be a bit more knowledgable. Last time, my family plan had some issues and after getting transferred left and right within Tmob's customer service, I got to talk to a BB tech who did a great job in solving the problem.

Thanks for the comment. I'm thinking exactly the same thing as you do.

Talking to BB tech sounds like a great advise. I'll make the call today.

Wish me luck...

No luck so far. Talked to a few CS reps, including one BB tech support gal. None of them could help. The last one I talked to even said that our plan had no text message at all. I think she said so because on TMO web sites, when one looks at the services included in our $49.99 Family Plan Basic, no text message is listed. But when one looks at the sites' Service Summary page, 300 monthly messages are listed:
