What have I done? I can not get the numeric keys to work. Eg, when I try to key in 0417 *** *** no numbers appear on the screen and I am taken to a search screen. 9550 ****** takes me to the address book. 6336 ****** takes me to a 'Normal' screen. 1 takes me to a browser. 3 to the alarm. These are shortcuts that I must have set accidentally. Incoming calls can be received as usual. Can I restore the functions somehow?

You disabled "Dial from Home Screen" and now have the keyboard shortcuts. You should be able to dial as normal just by hitting the green phone key first. The keyboard shortcuts are nice once you get used to them. There are quite a few.

When you hover over an icon if you see an underlined letter, that's the shortcut for that app. Check out Stinsonddog's Tips in my signature.

I use the shortcuts a lot. I even hide all the icons for apps that have shortcuts. keeps my screen less cluttered.
