Is it possible to send/receive emails from my BB without having an internet service plan? I do not browse the internet from the BB and would like to save a few bucks if possible.

I'm showing my age here, but it might be possible to sync with MSOutlook and send and receive the email via the PC. Your BB would behave then like the older MS Pocket Windows devices that used ActiveSync. You could - perhaps - compose email on the BB and save it as a draft, sync it w/ MSOutlook, and send from the PC. This was how it used to be in the not-so-good-old-days.You need advice from somone who is more familiar with BB DM. I am not saying this would be handy, but it might work and would seem to meet your stated need.

You could use a program like logicmail to open up an IMAP based server. It wouldn't be pushed to your device and would likely only work if you had a service plan that allowed some access to the internet, so there are a few caveats. If you had an 8320 that had a wifi connection logicmail would work fine for you, but the 8310's connection to the internet must come through the carrier..... sooo....

As listed above, you could sync your emails, but drafting a response would be difficult because those messages are typically only synced back to the PC when in the "Sent" folder, not the outbound folder. So your responses would never find their way back out to the recipient.

seems rather pointless to have a bb without an e-mail plan. t-mo offer a $10/month e-mail only plan; i love it.

OP has AT&T. Do they have an email only plan?

I have been using MMS to send emails to people since before I had a BB. If you use MMS and enter the email address instead of a mobile number it will become an email. I have AT&T with an unlimited text plan but no data plan so I don't use actual email. You can also recieve email as an MMS if you know your mobile email addy. For example... sending an email to will send it to the mobile number selected as an MMS message. I also have an email address that forwards to my mobile addy and I can get emails that way. Now obviously these will be plain jane text emails and not html, nor can you view attachments or images, but if you want your friends to send simple emails you can do it this way.

AT&T has a $15 per month data plan, includes email ---I don't think it includes text messages---you may want to check it out. I appreciate the advice that "gvgerman" gave you, and it appears to be sound enough, but that would be a rather long drawn out and clumsy way to access your email account, although free.

gvgerman has a good concept, except e-mail is not synced via Desktop Manager, so it won't work. It's not the same as the old ActiveSync.

But make sure the ATT email only plan is for THE BlackBerry.
