Default Bad Wifi Antenna???

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, quick question...is there a way to diagnose if I have a bad wifi antenna and get it replaced easily??? We have two 8320s in the house, but the wife's has a much more stable wifi connection than my own. I went into the wifi diagnostics and the only real difference that I can find is that my signal level reads a -57dBm and the wifeys reads -28dBm while both BBs were in the same spot.

My BB will constantly switch from UMA to GPRS and back again (last night it happened 13 times from 8pm to 10pm while I was within 15 ft of my router. the wifes phone didn't switch from UMA once. My bb also completely dropped the wifi connection (wifi symbol went grey) twice.

are their any other things I should check before looking into getting a new antenna?? Is the wifi antenna even replaceable??

Wirelessly posted (8320 Titanium)

During my side by side comparison of the signal levels, neither phone had bt enabled...and also the two hour period from last night neither phone had BT enabled.

I am going to guess you are both also running 4.5.0.52. If that is the case you may want to exchange yours if yu can.

Could also try updating to the latest OS.

I don't know if it is returnable...I got it from letstalk dot com and it was a free phone with the plan...I've just never tried to return a phone to that site...I'll look into it.

We are both on .52, I have upgrade to .69, had bt issues, went back to .52, then went to .55, and had bt issues again, so I am back with .52 as is the wife.

Is there a replacement antenna available...I would prefer not to get a refurb phone...I would just rather open mine up and put a new part in.

I am quite surprised by Horizon Wireless...for being a "platinum sponsor" of this forum, I have yet to hear back from them on this issue. It has been 3 days and not a word from them. Is this a typical turnaround time for them?

no it is not typical of us to miss an email and not respond to it. I take pride in answering all emails promptly and giving the proper answers and what not. Seems we missed your email all together, and i apologies. Would you mind resending it to us? Again, im very sorry for that, and ill see what happened and why you were not answered. Thanks again,
Steve

Well, basically I was wondering if there was a replacement wifi antenna for the 8320. Since I hadn't found an answer, I had called the company that I bought the device from and they "guaranteed" me a new device not a refurb, so I went that route, we'll see what happens...
