Is it true that they are only for bes

John Clark 09-14-2008 09:00 PM

No, they'll be for BIS too. However, it's only for individual applications/modules, i.e. Browser or email app.

So not the entire os? :(

John Clark 09-14-2008 09:09 PM

No.

Then what's the point

JSanders 09-14-2008 09:37 PM

The point is to update your OS one module at a time as needed, as improvements are made.

So thes updates that exceed the others by .03 (4.5.0.52 and 4.5.0.55) are just minor module updates?

Where do you gather that from?

Perhaps so. I don't know a rhyme or reason to RIMs version numbering, there likely is one, though.

NJBlackBerry 09-15-2008 08:44 AM

You have no way of knowing what's changed unless you get the release notes. Don't even speculate.

I meant the os 4.5.0.52 build 75 from Orange UK to 4.5.0.55 build 81 from Indostat

NJBlackBerry 09-15-2008 09:12 AM

Unless you get the release notes fro the carriers (and they don't give them out) you have no idea what the changes are between .52 and .55. They could be minimal, they could be extremely important to you.

I thought we already discussed this, there is no way to know, other than to
1) read the threads for each here in the Forums
2) use it and see.

I was just clarifying to you because you didn't seem to understand me

do you run windows at home? do you update the entire os every time ms releases a patch for a specific app? pretty much common sense here

vmladenov 09-15-2008 03:41 PM

Good point but windows is like a gigabyte well then why is it a full update for bes

John Clark 09-15-2008 05:09 PM

What do you mean? Are you still talking about the OTA updates? Even for BES users I've been told OTA updates are only for individual modules at a time and not for an entire OS update.

Jeez I'm sorry
