Default 8320 Freezes Immediately After Reboot When Using SD Memory Card

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday I upgraded the OS on my 8320. Everything worked fine for about an hour, but then my phone froze. I did a battery pull, and as soon as the phone booted up, it froze again. I took out the SD memory card, booted it up again, and everything worked fine. After several reboots with and without the memory card, it became pretty obvious that the card was the problem. I'm not sure what would cause the phone to immediately freeze after booting up every time the card is in it, but I hope it doesn't have anything to do with upgrading the OS.

If needed, I'm fine with buying another SD memory card, but I was curious if anyone had any other suggestions for me to try first. Also, if I do need a new memory card, any idea how I can get all my pictures and stuff off the old one?

What OS do you have?

I think this is a problem that's been documented with 4.5. You may need to reformat the memory card (could be wrong, might be a good idea to search on this) and to take the stuff off your card, just hook your 8320 up to your computer and enable mass storage mode. It should appear as a drive (or folder) at which point you can copy everything onto your hard drive.

4.5.0.55 is what I upgraded to yesterday. Earlier, my computer wouldn't recognize the phone when it was frozen, but I decided to try it again anyway. I put the card back in, and for whatever reason, the stupid thing decided to freeze after booting as expected, but then it unfroze and is now working just fine. I was able to backup everything on the memory card, but I have a feeling it won't be long before it freezes up again.

Thanks! So far, it has been fine. I've even rebooted it a couple times with the memory card in it and no freezing. I'm always suspicious of problems that seem to work themselves out on their own, and I still can't believe that after countless reboots and freezes, the stupid thing decided to be normal after I asked for help. My blackberry is probably plotting something...
