Default Latest OS: 8310 4.5.0.92/4.5.0.69 (Multilanguage) - 09-23-2008, 12:29 PM

This for the 8310, and will work on any 8310 from any carrier.

Package Version: 4.5.0.92
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.69
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.72
  • File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel92_PL2.7.0.72_A4.5.0.69.ex e
  • File size: 74MB
Download here: Click here
After clicking on that link, click "United Kingdom" for English Users, or choose the country of your choice, etc.
In the next window, click FREE DOWNLOADS
Then, Click "RIM Devices" and find the 8310

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click http://www.blackberryforums.com/general-8300-series-discussion-curve/141759-latest-os-8310-4-5-0-81-4-5-0-55-multilanguage.html

For AT&T users, do we still have to use the old version of BB Maps in order to have it active??

Any major improvement over 4.5.0.55? I've been pretty stable since I installed it and wondering whether to upgrade again. (Although, I admit, I was wondering when an upgrade would come out since I think .55 was the third of three in about 2 weeks and it's been almost 2 months now.)

I have searched this on the forums but can't seem to find the correct answer but the Status / About screen does not work and i noticed a few others like some apps have auto check for new versions but it doesn't work. Someone did mentioned that you can fix it but i can't seem to find the thread for it.

Did you uninstall Voice Dialing? That will get rid of the About screen as well.

The download link does not work, it keeps asking me for a username and password. Can someone post the correct link?

Thanks

Update: I was able to figure it out, the instructions were not very clear.

what are the chances of going from 4.2.2 to 4.5.0.92 [1] crashing my theme and [2] modifying all of my options? I will use desktop manager and not JL Commander...

Just ignore the username/password boxes and click on a carrier (T-Mo UK was my choice) then burrow down through the menus until you find 8310... downloading as I type this.

Have you hidden your messages Icon? After the upgrade, a 'thanks for registering' email shows up under that icon. I have that one hidden since I have three emails set up on my blackberry and they all have their own icon.

just a thought...

Default Media Card causes Reboot Loop - 09-24-2008, 09:34 AM

So I upgraded to this version last night and everything looked great.
I downloaded the new Google Maps with Street View (very sweet) and
also Microsoft Live and all was well. I ran Documents to Go and it indicated
an update was available so I downloaded that and put the phone on the charger and went to bed. When I awoke this morning my Curve was in an
endless reboot loop which wouldn't stop until I removed the media card. I
saw a the post about copying everything off and reformatting in 4.5 but
my question is why would it work just fine for a couple of hours and go through
a couple of reboots no problem and then all of a sudden, reboot hell?

I removed the Documents to Go application and that didn't do anything.

Thank,

Why, I don't know. Maybe because it didn't immediately begin the scan of the Media Card.

Nevertheless, removing the DocToGo app has nothing to do with it.

Read this and follow the instructions for the fix: http://www.blackberryforums.com/medi...t-reboots.html

for what its worth, the memory leak problem i was having with a previous version (4.5.0.55) is no longer an issue. i now have a steady 25-27mb free space instead of the 8-13mb.

Is the memory footprint for the 8310 version larger or smaller than the 4.5.0.81/.55 version?

I have an 8800 that I use for loading new software on to 'test drive'... I recently loaded the .92/.69 on my 8800 and after removing the unnecessary (IMHO) stuff (to match the software suite on my current Curve), lost about 25K of memory from the .81/.55 OS over the .92/.69 version. Since my 8310 is already 'marginal' (18MB free), I am not sure I want to upgrade at this point.

Any stability issues so far? Any other 'gotchas'?

now i have all the "media mall" programs. I can hide them, but how can i delete them to free up space?

i tried deleting out of [options>advanced>service books] but they just come back.

anyone delete them completely?

Also i did the BB Maps swap from 4.2 and it does not work. I had it working on my last 4.5 but not on this newest one. Anyone else experience this?
