Default Latest OS: 8300 4.5.0.92/4.5.0.69 (Multilanguage) - 09-23-2008, 12:38 PM

This for the 8300, and will work on any 8300 from any carrier.

Package Version: 4.5.0.92
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.69
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.72
  • File name: 8300M_PBr4.5.0_rel92_PL2.7.0.72_A4.5.0.69.ex e
  • File size: 73MB
Download here: Click here
After clicking on that link, click "United Kingdom" for English Users, or choose the country of your choice, etc.
In the next window, click FREE DOWNLOADS
Then, Click "RIM Devices" and find the 8300

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8300:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

This covers the whole spectrum of the 8300 series, right?

NO!! Only the 8300. It does not work on the 8310, 8320, or 8330.

Upgrade went smoothly and the memory is looking better from previous versions so far. Question for everyone, any of you running Empower's BESMailBox program? Is it working appropriately?

Their website says they only support up to 4.3, but support has said 4.5 should work. With 4.5.0.55 it was working, although with a few quirks. With this version it doesn't seem to be showing any emails at all when I open it. If any of you have it working that would be great to know. Thanks.

Hi,

I'm trying to upgrade, but after installation and removal of the vendor file I don't get the "upgrade" question...
Am I overlooking/forgetting something?

Thanx in advance for the help...

That's because you have an 8310. This OS is only for the 8300.
The 8310 OS is here:

The newest 4.5 is stickied at the top of the forum. It may not be multilanguage as it depends on carrier, but it is the latest released version.

Default Are there Documentations on New Features in Latest OS 4.5? - 10-31-2008, 02:19 PM

I was wondering how does that "Documents To Go" feature in new OS 4.5 work, but couldn't find info on the detail.

Is there documentation somewhere? Or has someone tried it out, tell me if you were able to retrieve documents (Doc and XLS) stored on MicroSD card?
