Hey,
I've been trying to install an SSH client by the name of MidpSSH, so I can remote into a linux server from my phone, however I have not been able to get it to work. It keeps giving me an error 500, but I know it is possible to install on this model. I will only get a free program, because it is for personal use. Also I've been looking, but I dont think there is a Putty one available, but that would be preferred. Any help would be great...

What have you done as part of the install? Is the error part of the install or when trying to connect?

The error is when trying to download the file.

Here is the details:

The error is part of the download*(correction to myself ), when downloadling through there wap address (Choosing the latest stable release, then choosing the OS 4 build for the Blackberry), it will attempt to download, but will then give me an error upon requesting the sites information. The error is this: HTTP Error 500 Internal Server Error, Under the details of the error it shows this: Java.lang.NullPointerException....

I have also tried downloading it through the site, by going to
xk72.com/midpssh/downloadversion.php?version=1.6.0
and downloading the blackberry version through my BB. And choosing jad file for full build, and it attempts, and I will actually get to a screen that has the name, version, vendor, etc. I click download, Opera (My Browser) starts the download and more than half way through says Download failed.

That is what I will get...

I got the same error. Contact the application creator. Its likely a problem with their end.

I went to the site and messaged them, but I am still waiting for the email... Hoping they'll be able to fix it if thats what the problem is... Has anyone got it to work since this post?

I found out how to get it to work, I will be posting the information on a separate thread as well. Thanks guys!

Here is the solution for mine:

1. Go here: BSCreations! - J2A
2. Download his amazing software
3. Download the most recent JDE for the Blackberry
4. Download the build you want from MidpSSH:
MidpSSH | SSH and Telnet client for Mobile devices (MIDP/J2ME)
5. You should only need the Jar file.
6. After downloading, run JAD Maker (located in C:\Program Files\Brandon Swift Creations\Jar 2 Alx\JADMaker)
5. Now you should have both his software, and the JDE installed, and both your jar and jad file ready to go.
7. Just place the two files in this directory: C:\Program Files\Brandon Swift Creations\Jar 2 Alx\JarFiles
8. After doing so, start his program, and follow his easy steps ( I already gave you) and finish the conversion, and you now have a .alx file
9. Take that file and use your Blackberry Desktop Manager to load the application onto your Blackberry
10. Thats it, as I was looking around the web for hours I could not find this anywhere, and I was having this problem for sometime... Hope this helps :P

I was able to install it fine directly to my 8320 , but when I try to connect I get this error :

------


Any ideas ?

OS on BB : 4.5.0.52 (Platform 2.7.0.66)

Update : Did some more searching on the forum here and came to know I need to set value for TCP > APN , I entered it and its working now .

If any one using ufone , the APN is ufone.internet .
