Default UMA signal strength

It seems to me my UMA signal strength isn't all that great at times. I've got an 8320 with 4.5.0.81 OS with T-Mobile. The best signal I get is 3 bars, at times I'll only have 1 bar. My laptop seems to always have a strong WiFi connection so I figured my 8320 should too. Is 3 bars the max? If not, is there anything I can do to improve the signal on my 8320?

Don't get so hung up on how many bars you have. If you have good voice quality that's all that matters. I've noticed the same thing on my 8320 but the quality was always fine.
