OS: 8310 4.5.0.108/4.5.0.81 (All Languages) -
10-02-2008, 05:14 PM
Software For BlackBerry® Curve (TM) 8310 smartphone
From Rogers Wireless; This will load on any carrier's 8310 model
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.108 (Multilanguage)
Package Version: 4.5.0.108
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.5.0.81
* Software Platform: 2.7.0.78
* File name: 8310M_PBr4.5.0_rel108_PL2.7.0.78_A4.5.0.81_Rogers. exe
* File size: 75.77MB
Download MultiLanguage version here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...C068A355BBA31A
( If you desire East Asian languages included in the OS, download this same OS here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...languages.html
Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8310:
1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed. If you don't already have it you can download it here.
2. Download the OS file listed above to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.
To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click here:

Oh....I wish they would make an English-Only version, so we didn't have to uncheck all the languages when we go to install it.

I lost my other language (hebrew) -
10-03-2008, 04:45 AM
While updating, i did not see anywhere option for selecting more languages.
Is there a way to add another language after the upgrade?
Thanks,

I have upgraded to the new version with no apparent problems. The only think is that it has rebooted some times on its own, and there is one new icon named Activation that is stack on 83%. any help?

The reboots are caused by conflicting files on your media card. The "Activation" is your BES activation. Rebooting in the middle of that isn't a good thing. If it's stuck, you may need to reactivate. I would remove the media card and then get the device reactivated, then fix the rebooting by backing up all the files, then reformatting your media card in 4.5 and then move files back one folder at a time until you narrow down which folder has the conflicting file(s.)
To cancel the Activation just hit the menu key on the Activation page and hit cancel. Then go to Options >Advanced Options >Service Book and delete all service books that have [Desktop] in them. Then reboot the device and reconnect to DM just as you did during the upgrade. If EA doesn't restart on it's own, then you can call your IT department and get a password to start it wirelessly.

Hello, I'm new to THIS site. I have a question about the new one. I down loaded the Asain version earlier this week and now I down loaded this newer version of it. the problem i'm havin is after i down loaded it and then ran it, i plug my BB in but it doesn't tell me there are any upgrades for it. Any ideas to why this is happening?

Because it's the same version. They are both 4.5.0.81. This version includes more languages. The link to the one with the East Asian Languages is in the first post. If you've already updated, there is no reason to do anything.

Sorry if I've missed something, but I have a question.
Has the problem with some theme's icons resetting their locations when the battery is pulled been fixed yet? I really like the Today Plus themes, but I get tired of reorganizing the icons after every battery pull.

Can someone report whether this release fixes the VERY annoying HTML email issue of making you click to "Download Images" and then click AGAIN to acknowledge the warning, before getting the images in each and every email message (even though you've set the global preference to "Always Download Images")??

Repeat emails that I receive (like a weekly email newsletter, daily updates, etc.) retain the image information and don't have to download those repeat images, again. New images do need downloading.

Check again, search the entire c: drive for the vendor.xml file. Reinstalling DM can put the vendor file on the drive again.

It should have. Try removing the BB from the USB, reboot both the BB and PC. Reconnect, open DM and see if it does.

Thank you Mr. Sanders. Tried that and looked all over the place for another vendor.xml but it is nowhere to be found. It's driving me nuts since I've done it a zillion times before and obviously everybody can do it. Maybe it's the age thing. Or the Banks. I'll find somebody to blame.

I noticed a glitch in pictures while going thru the pictures not in explorer but when you have the picture in fullscreen and going thru pictures sometimes the next pic wont load and gives a black screen you have to hit the escape key then go back the way you were doing it.

I installed the new OS a few days ago on my T-Mobile 8320. Basically I get an hourglass every few seconds for no apparent reason and my battery lasts only a few hours on full charge due to the constant loading.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

This is due to either low memory or a problem with the media card.

After successful upgrade thanks to your guide I noticed a significant drop in volume. In all areas. Just wondering if any one else had the same experience? One of the things I liked about this device it was really loud, would scare people with some of my ring tones. Thanks J. Sanders for your plain language.
