Hi all. If you GOOGLE blackberry os 4.5, it was supposedly official in september. It wasn't only one site that said this. The biggest broadcaster was BGR. Well, its October. So was there any truth in this info. Please share all comments here.

Not all carriers have released a 4.5 BlackBerry operating system, but there is a 4.5 OS for almost every current-generation BlackBerry.

Orange UK has 4.5.0.52 (8320) and 4.5.0.55 (8310) officially released. You can find it here:

You'll never see a "worldwide rollout on all carriers" because its up to each carrier when they choose to release a new OS version. RIM doesn't dictate that, they leave it up to each individual carrier. No coordinated multi-carrier rollouts ever.

But if you look at the stickies in this forum, you'll find the latest released 4.5 OS along with instructions for installing on your BB, no matter who your carrier is.

"Official" and "released by all carriers" are 2 entirely different things. If you can't wait on TMO to release it for the 8320 then check out that latest OS thread for the 8320 stickied at the top of this forum.

I don't want to void my warranty but I have another complaint. RIM sells a few of their devices directly to consumers in Canada. You can access the download site for them if you go to blackberry.com pick Canada, go to support, click on downloads, click on blackberry device and desktop software and instead of picking access your service provider click download blackberry device and desktop software and you will see a page that looks like a blackberry.com carrier download site but with no carrier. That is where you download for devices that are bought directly from RIM. Since 20 different versions of OS 4.5 have come out, don't you think that those devices should have 4.5 ant the website that I just directed you to a few sentences ago. They were all rumors, and they didn't come true. So, you can either download one of the versions already out there, wait for your carrier to release a version - which could be weeks or months away, or wait for the global rollout which is never happening!

Rogers released 4.5 for the 8310/8320 yesterday.

So, because you post from your BB, that causes run on sentences?

Installing another OS does NOT void your warranty. Never has and never will. It will, however, prevent your carrier from supporting you when you call in with issues. However, most people that are smart enough to load another carrier's OS are smart enough to find the fixes for most issues here and can live without support from their carrer. Besides, you can always load your carrier's official version should you need to return your device or get a warranty replacement for any reason.
