Default Desktop Manager Connection Issues

I have been attempting to upgrade my Curve 8300 to 4.5 most of the day, and have been running in to a mess of problems. The most recent happens to be that my Curve refuses to connect to my Desktop Manager. I've tried it on two separate computers, with two different USB cables, and it still wont connect. The screen on my phone will simply keep flashing with 'connecting to desktop', but it never actually connects. Help? Also, the strange part is: when I go to application loader, it seems to connect to my phone without any trouble, because it detects that I have Gmail installed, as well as my different themes. However, the phone continues to flash, the window for the manager says I'm still disconnected, and I'm not getting any prompts to upgrade.

Having same issue: Curve flashes "Connecting to Desktop" every 5 seconds for about 10 times, then the Desktop application shuts down. Rebooted PC and BB and tried again but same result.

Any ideas appreciated.
