Default Swap 8300 trackball with 8320 or 8120/30?

Please Login to Remove!

8300 trackball is pretty bad and loose, I like 8120 the one with tiny clicks to it (T-Mo's). Is the tiny clicks on the trackball or the little rollers on the phone? If I swap my trackball will it be like that? It feels like those have more control and are more precise.

The tiny clicks is a setting on the device. Under Options -> Screen/Keyboard.

If your trackball is in bad shape you can buy a new one from HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center .

I beg to differ. I am not talking about the tiny click sound... My wife has 8120 from T-Mobile and her trackball has clicky feel to it, you can sense it when you roll it even when BB is turned off. On the other hand my 8300 from AT&T has completely smooth trackball.

Is her device newer than yours? Could be yours has been worn smooth.

The devices all use the same type trackball and housing.

The trackballs start with grooves on them normally and get worn smooth pretty quickly

That's possible.. Hers is about 1 year newer than mine.
It looks like I have a lot of work to do on my phone, I need to swap the trackball, replace the faceplate (it is scratched, and also letting dust in from cheap built) and I thought while I am at it, I would get one of the black housings.. By the time I am done, maybe it will be almost $100.. That's when I decided to wait for AT&T to get the bold..

Actually I think there's a difference between the trackballs in the early generation Pearls and all subsequent BlackBerrys. RIM purposely made the newer trackballs a bit more "clicky" to help improve traction. The trackball on the 8100 is different in terms of its feel (its smoother).

Found the old tread from where I read this: 8130 vs. 8120 Track Ball
