Default keyboard wear/chipping

Please Login to Remove!

HI guys. I have a verizon 8330, I love it It has completely changed the way I use a phone.
The problem is that the send key has developed a chip and I see a couple of smaller chips forming.
I have the option of asking verizon to send me a new (refurb) or possibly replacing the keypad myself.
My question is have any of you had this problem? How did you solve it?
Have any of you switched out a keypad in a BB before? What about the refurb units from verizon?
I like the phone I have and fear that a replacement may suck or be inferior.
I noticed that My phone was made in Canada. Is that typical? Do they make curves in China as well?
Any help and advice welcome on the topic please.
Oh one other question How can I prevent this from happening again. I am using a body glove rubberized hard case which protects the screen but not the keyboard....

Thank you

Purchase a replacement keyboard from many vendors, the best and most reputable around here is - Horizon Wireless, The World’s Cellular Repair Center

Interesting. I've never seen any chips on my bb, past or present models. How do you carry your device? Is it in your pocket with loose change or car keys?

Same here... But my BB's are either holstered or in a pocket with nothing else in the pocket.
