Default FIOS/ActionTec Now Working w/UMA Since 4.5.0.81?

Please Login to Remove!

I had been using my old Linksys router for wireless/UMA, because originally with 4.2, there was no way UMA would work with the ActionTec. Now, today, on a whim, I decided to try the ActionTec for wireless/UMA. I'm amazed to find that with 4.5.0.81, it seems to work fine. Can anyone else confirm the same? Thanks!

4.5 made the connection with the Actiontec way more stable, but I did try long calls and it would still reboot either the phone or router at some point. That was on .52 I think.

I have made calls on my Actiontec with .69 and .81 and it seems to work fine. But I haven't tried a long call test in a while. I'm still reluctant to drop my Linksys because I know I can make calls over an hour on it.

Thanks for the confirmation. At least I know it's not just a fluke. I'll continue testing.

Now you've got me thinking of unplugging the Linksys. I just did a 36 minute call with no problems. Although while not on a call I did have a period where the phone went to SOS for a minute or so that I noticed.

I talked to two different people 4 times yesterday. I made an outgoing call to one person, and talked for 45 minutes. The other person called me twice, and I called her once. Two of those three calls were well over an hour, and the other was about 45 minutes. All calls were perfect. I couldn't be happier. Again though, I am on .81, and never tested this since on the ActionTec since 4.2.

4.5 Fixed the problem. Performance with UMA increased significantly and no dropped calls
Thanks for the heads up.

I upgraded my 8320 yesterday to 4.5.0.81 (obtained from T-Mobile site) and now myFaves does show on my handset. I was on the phone with T-Mobile and their Blackberry department several times (over 8 hours in all); they still cannot get it to work. Every time they push the MyFaves to my handset, it generates an error "Uncaught excpetion: java.lang.NullPointerException". They had me reboot the device several times. They even had me wipe the handset and restore everything my the backup. After the wipe, the myFaves showed up on the handset. However, the Internet Browser was gone (t-zones still worked). Once they pushed the service books to my handset, the Internet Browser returned but the myFaves was gone again.

So now I have a handset with 4.5.0.81 on it, the UMA works much nicer, the Internet works, my applications work, I can make calls ... the only thing missing is the MyFaves, which I guess I can live with since I can just program a few buttons on the handset to do the speed dialing of those numbers.

If anyone has a suggestion, please share. Thanks.
