There's this cool site called Google. It's awesome. I use it almost every day.
I went there, and searched for your error.
I found this: How To: ReInstall OS When Computer Won't Recognize The Device Is Connected - PinStack.com Forums

Loads of great information there.

A USB hub? Or direct connected to the PC. Never use a USB hub when trying to load software.

Please try these (again) - exactly:

How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Once you do that, the BB should have a "507" code on the screen.

If it doesn't, try this -> What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

If you cannot wipe out and reload the operating system that way, you may have to get a replacement from your carrier.

I downloaded the desktop manager and the software handheld from blackberry website. I deleted the vendor.xml file. This is too easy, but RIM told me under similar circumstances to simply remove the battery and reinstall it. I assume you've tried that?

Since you just bought the phone, why not take it back and exchange it for a new one, while you are still in AT&T'S 30 day return period?

Yeah, I did that. the blackberry curve is not recognized by the desktop manager. The second issue that I'm experiencing is the password protection feature. I can't re-instal the O/S. I can't do anthing on my blackberry due to system error that I'm experiencing preventing me to access the desktop. If you was able to assist me, that would be great.
