Default questions about first blackberry (Bell)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I just got my first BlackBerry and I have a few questions. I am with Bell and my data plan gives me unlimited email and messenger, but nothing else.

Could anyone tell me if there is a charge associated with sending a picture through messenger, or is that covered under the unlimited messenger plan? I have heard from some people it is free, but others have told me that I will be charged for it because I do not have any data with my plan.

Also, I'm a little confused with the BlackBerry maps app. Do data charges apply when using it, or is everything pre-loaded?

I just want to know which features I'm able to use, so there are no surprises on my bill. Thanks for any help.

Can't answer the messenger question since I don't use it, but I remember reading someplace that BBM is data, not text, so you would need a BB data plan. otherwise you will be charged for data. Perhaps one of the experts will come along and give a definitive answer.

Same with BBMaps. You need a BB data plan. Maps info is downloaded as you need it, not stored on the device or SD card, so if you use it a lot, then the charges could really add up.

a picture is data. google maps is data.

if you dont have unlimited data, don't bother using those features.

also, be sure to set your phone to use no data or e-mail features while roaming. those charges are the worst.

that option is in network options.

Thanks Jarko. I wasn't sure about the messaging. My friend who told me about the picture messaging told me he sends pictures all the time and his plan only gives him messenger, but he is never charged for it. It didn't sound right, so I wanted to make sure. I had no idea about turning data off while roaming. That's going to be very useful as I'm going out of town for a few days soon.
Thanks again.

Also, is it free (with a plan that includes messenger only) to send a voice note through messenger?

Sorry, your first post kind of confused me. Just to be clear, if I have an unlimited BlackBerry messenger plan, there is no charge for sending and receiving voice notes and pictures, as long as it is done through messenger, and not email or a picture message? And opening attachments in an email is not covered by unlimited email, but requires browser usage?
Thanks for all the help.

Also, is MSN messenger free to use if I have an unlimited messenger plan, or does that only apply to bbm?
