Default Symbol while talking

Please Login to Remove!

Hey,
Whenever I am in a conversation using the handset I have a symbol that is a black rectangle and has a building blue line with pluses along the top of the line. This started showing up a few days ago. I have had one other blackberry and that one started doing it after a month. Shortly after the speaker went out.

What does this symbol mean and can I turn it off?

My phone: BB 8330 Curve from Us Cellular

Thank you for any help

I had a similar problem on my Pearl (8130) from Verizon. May be slightly different than the Curve, but place a call (voicemail works if you don't want to bother anyone). While you're in the call press the blackberry key and choose enhance call audio. You should see three options. Select normal and that black icon will go away. I don't think it's anything bad, though.

Yes, it's the audio enhancement icon. Nothing to be concerned about.
