Default AT&T Mobile Backup & 4.5 OS

Please Login to Remove!

Good Morning...

I upgraded my Curve to OS release 4.5, but in setting my applications back up, I discovered I can not download the AT&T Mobile Backup application. I went to the Mobile Backup site, had the text message with installation link sent to my BB -- but once I start the process, it says the application is not avaliable for my phone...

I sent an e-mail to Asurion (looks like who makes it), but no response...

Any ideas?

Did you update to the ATT version of 4.5?

I have been having 100% problem with Mobile Backup. Signed up in Oct with old phone (Sliver) before getting new phone (Blackberry). Never worked either on upload or download. Spent approx. 26hrs on phone with ATT reps and finally about 6 hrs of actualy level 3 techs and no one can figure out why it's not working (between both VERY different models). I do not have AT&T version 4.5 (1.04 is what has been installed), but the only thing they can tell me is that version 4.5 is not supported. Then why do they sell it? I am now fearful of losing my contacts once again since this is the third BlackBerry I have to exchange in my 30 day period.

Ouch. I think I may have to hold off on installing 4.5.

I also have the same problem on both my 8820 and my wifes Curve 8310. We are both running the ATT version of 4.5. I get the "Sorry , AT&T Mobile Backup is not currently supported on the make/model of phone you have." I spent 1 hour with online tech support, 2 hours on the phone with customer service including supposedly a high level of data support. I emailed Asurion and they told me to take my phone into a store and let them work on it. The manager of my local store tried for an hour with no luck. He couldn't find out any answers for me. He even tried to download the app on his Curve and he couldn't download it either. It is obvious to me that Mobile Backup is not compatible with 4.5. Ridiculous!!

It sounds like they don't have the 4.5 browser supported. It's possible that it will run on 4.5 but I don't know. What does this app do that Desktop Manager won't do?

Ok, a quick google search and I see what it does. Honestly, I would just install Desktop Manager and just do a weekly backup. While it's not wireless, your contacts as well as ALL other data on your BB will be backed up this way.

Yes, very true and I do that too. I guess I am a belt and suspenders kind of guy. For others reading this... AT&T Mobile Backup is a way of backing up/restoring contacts while away from your computer. For example, if I lost my phone - I could walk into a store, choose any AT&T phone, install the app OTA and sync with my acct. The part I like is that I can add and edit contacts online with the computer and sync to my phone. It works very nice....when it works.
