Default Phantom Emails

Please Login to Remove!

I have an issue with my email counter. I did a quick search and found only stuff related to the voice mail message counter.

Basically, I recently switched to a Gmail account.
As part of that process I took all the email from my old account and moved them from archive folders to the inbox. This was because Gmail will only retrieve messages from an inbox.

I still had my BB setup with my old account and the phone proceeded to try and download all the messages that recently appeared in the inbox (2000+).
It didn't know how to stop it, so I let it run its course. The phone finally gave up at about 180 messages.

With my inbox nice and full I updated my BB to use my new gmail account.
All the old email messages were cleared from the phone. But, they are still being counted somehow. Even when I clear my emails from the phone, it still shows that I have 181 messages.

I'm trying to avoid wiping the phone since I would like to keep all the text messages I have.

Any idea how I can get rid of these phantom messages?
Thanks.

You can clear all messages from your device by connecting to DM and running the backup/restore options>advanced. Highlight messages, and click clear.

Have you pulled the messages from the Gmail inbox to an archive folder? Then try going under options in messages and reconcile the handset to the Gmail inbox. I dunno if that would work, I've never expirenced that before.
