Default Keypad Backlight doesn't shut off and keys work sporactically.

Hello everyone,

I have had two Curves and both have had this problem after six months of use.
Basically, all of the sudden the keyboard back light wont shut off no matter if the phone is on/off/standby/locked. As long as the battery is in place, this happens.

Then about a week after that, randomly once a week or less, the buttons start to act funny. I can press the call button and it will type "Yi" on the keyboard. When you hit the escape button something similar happens. Only part of the keys actually work properly. The track ball seems to be un-effected.

The phone has not come in contact with any water or humid situations. It was dropped and has a very small crack on the upper right part of the housing, but that was at least 3-4 months ago. This problem just started a week ago or so.

AT&T wont honor the warranty because of the tiny crack on the casing.

Yes, I searched for 30 minutes and found nothing that anyone answered.

Thanks for your time!

P.S. I'm trying to download "BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.152" to see if that helps anything as I have not done anything like that.
Anyone got any ideas?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 11000 Colosol)

I would reload the operating system and see if that helps first

That's what I was doing when I made this post, at first it didn't do anything. When I woke up this morning it was fixed.... Not sure why but its operating normally. I installed the update that's in the sticky's of the forum.

Glad its fixed now!
