Default Wifi Question

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,

I got this new blackberry curve 8320, using for a month and love it. I have question about wifi and data. if I use wifi, will it uses up my data part of the data plan or no? I'm with Rogers service.

one more, while using wifi in out of province/state or country, will that charges you roaming as well?

Thanks

If you are connected to a wifi hot spot or home router you will not use data from your data plan, thus no roaming charges.

To make sure you do not use your data plan you can disable your data connection OPtions>Mobile Network>Off - you can turn it back on here to.

It depends on the type of application you are using. There are some 3rd party apps which would use only the data service even if you are connected to a WiFi network. Eg. Bank of America Mobile Banking application. But in some other cases like the browser I think you can specify whether or not to use the data service or Wifi.

No. Just to be safe in case you want to ensure that roaming does not cost you data. Goto Manage Connections > Mobile Network Options > Data Services > Off When Roaming.
