Great forums and tons of help here, thanks! Okay so this is what I am trying to do. I currently have a Black Berry (duh) 8310 from ATT. I called ATT last night and had them give me the SIM Unlock code for my phone so I can take my phone to any carrier that I choose.

I am trying to either flash my phone or install software from T Mobile because I am looking to switch to T Mobile. I downloaded from their site the software for the 8320 BB. Basically from the looks of things the only difference is that the 8320 has WiFi and the 8310 doesn't.

Now when I install the T Mobile's software on the laptop running WinXP Pro all is well. I plug in my BB 8310 phone into via USB and load the Desktop Manager still all is well. I get a pop up box stating that my software is out of date and wants to install the following ....

Black Berry 4.5.0 Core Applications
Black Berry Attachment Service
Black Berry Messenger
Brick Breaker
Browser
EMail Setup Application
Help
MemoPad
Password Keeper
Phone w/ TTY Support
Tasks

I hit next with ALL boxes still checked and I get the following error message in a summary box saying,

* "The application "Black Berry 4.5.0 Core Applications" cannot be loaded * because some required files are not available"

The only option it gives me is to hit Back or Cancel

So, I'm thinking, "Oh okay, well let's try this then since I've seen it run this way on the forums". I go to the following locations on my computer

Open up My Computer
Go to my local hard drive
Go to \Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader
And I double click on "Loader.exe"

It loads, and I do the following ....

1.) Click Next
2.) It see's my phone's PIN
3.) Next
4.) It starts to read the System and Application settings on the phone
5.) Then I get to a list of the above applications including the option to choose language settings etc.
6.) I click on ADD in the upper right hand corner
7.) A Windows Explorer Diag Box appears

8.) I goto C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8320-v4.5.0.81_P2.7.0.78\

9.) I select all the *.alx files that are listed in there which are from T Mobile because I see Yahoo.alx & AIM.alx in there and I know ATT doesn't have Yahoo or AIM loaded on their Black Berry phones by default

10.) I leave everything check for all languages etc (don't want to mess anything up)

11.) I hit next

12.) After hitting next, I receive an error message in a POP UP window saying the following

13.) I hit OK and then it takes me back to the list of files and the only thing I can do is hit Next again or hit cancel

--DONE with this part--

Now I read earlier in this thread here to delete the vendor.xml file, so I moved it out of the location I found it in which was ....

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Reach In Motion\AppLoader

and I moved it to my desktop just in case!

I restarted my BB and the laptop and tried it again and I get the above error messages again. So I am basically asking for some assistance from anyone that can help me with this I would really appreciate it!

8310 does not equal 8320

OS model must match OS model.

Get the latest for the 8310 OS from our Sticky Note above

Additionally, you don't need a TMO OS. I'm with at&t and I my BB's are at&t branded yet neither of them is running an at&t OS. Your carrier-specific settings are in the service books -- not the OS.
