Default lost all my contacts, HELP!

Please Login to Remove!

i was trying to download images from the my 8330 to the computer using blackberry desktop manager. instead of 'media', i clicked on 'application loader' and i am sure but i hit the 'start' button for 'add/remove application or maybe 'update software'. whatever i did, i lost all my contacts and all the saved data and files except for the images from the memory chip. which wasn't even important at all. now i am in deep trouble.

is there any way that i can retrieve at least my contacts?

thanks

If the BB is wiped, the BB is wiped. There is no way to retrieve your contacts from the BB itself. However, if you were doing routine backups, you can restore your contacts (and all your other settings and PIM data) from the backup.

If you weren't doing routine backups, you can sync to Outlook and/or Google and/or Yahoo if your contacts are on those systems.

If you weren't doing routine backups AND you don't have your contacts on one of the above systems, then I think you're out of luck.

Use this as a lesson to never leave your data without a proper backup.

Sounds like the Desktop Manager upgraded the device for you. By default when it updates the Device it creates a backup.

Do a search on your PC for "*.ipd" (w/o the quotes) this will find any backups of you device. The file format should be LoaderBackup(Date).ipd or something along those lines.

If you find the file just go threw the restore function.

Hehe, a lesson learned (and not the hard way either ). If you go into the Backup/Restore piece of the Desktop Manager head into the Options and you can the Desktop manager to remind you to backup your BlackBerry every X amount of days, this way when you plug in your BlackBerry and the time has elapsed/expired the Desktop manager will ask you to backup you device for you all you have to do hit ok. Might make it easier for you.

You are fortunate. It may also be helpful if you synced your contacts with Outlook or another BB compatible client
