Wish I had an answer for you. Did you try to DL Desktop Manger 4.7 from BB's site? As for the text thing, I can't receive them at all anymore. Even if I shut the unit off, or do a battery pull. It's a little frustrating. Good luck.

My computer could not recognize the pin no matter what I did! If you can get yours to recognize it you are doing better than me. I sit here with my old 7100i until my new phone arrives on Tuesday.

What I was told to do was go into Desktop Manager (make sure you have version 4.7... link is earlier in the thread) and go to application loader then update software select your pin and put in your password. Going from memory here so hopefully I don't miss a step. When you see 2 options choose the recommended one to install but make sure you go over to options and check everything you need installed. I didn't choose all of the foreign languages...

From there you should be able to reload the software...or at least I hope so.

When I did that I kept getting a fatal error because my phone wouldn't recognize the pin. If you can't get it to recognize the pin I'd suggest calling Nextel Blackberry support at 1-866-275-1072.

Good luck! Let us know what happens.

that is exactly what mine did it dd not see the pin at the bottom left to the DM screen. But when i opened my option menu and and look at connections i set it to usb "while the blackberry was plugged in" and selected usb it showed it to me there it still did not show it to me at the bottom left of the desktop manager. but it did allow me to reinstall the software and after it compleatly finished the update then it showed it to me at the bottom left of the DM.

Thumbs up BlackBerry Software Updates - 4.6.1.128 (225) / 8350i now available

A software update for the BlackBerry Curve 8350i is now available via WebSL (web based software load) from BlackBerry - Update your Device Software. Please note that this install must be done using BlackBerry Desktop on your computer. The BlackBerry download files will become available mid week on the Sprint and BlackBerry websites with the new OS version being 4.6.1.128.

8350i Key Performance Enhancements and Known Issue Fixes:

xxx8729; Multimedia Messaging (text messaging)

xxx8729; Data Connectivity

xxx8729; Media Player functionality

xxx8729; Bluetooth capabilities

xxx8729; GPS (Location Based Services)

I just hooked my 8350i up to the Desktop Manager v4.7 and it propmpted me for the update. It automatically backed-up my info and restored it as part of the upgrade process. Don't count on the Desktop Manager to do this for you. I would advise a back-up before you attempt the upgrade.

I just finished updating... Soon to start testing..

The upgrade went smoothly.
Atho...I removed my 2GB SD card tho just to eliminate any possible problems. I popped it back in and it even remembered my desktop image.

I'm hoping that the crappy bluetooth is 'better'.
(Current problems - Its MOLASSES SLOW, and cant send/receive anything of size bigger than typical pictures.)

I got my new phone and I installed the new update although I was very nervous about doing it.

I still don't get text messages.. I still have PPT in my messages (one can hope it goes away, right) and now I notice in the download folder there is a blue box that says "direct send" but if I click it nothing happens. I was hoping that was the secret to getting PPT out of my messages but it doesn't seem to be the case.

Other than those little bugs I am so happy to have my phone back! 2 days with the 7100i that turns wireless off every 10 seconds was no fun!
