Default OS: 8320 4.5.0.174/4.5.0.124 (English & East Asian) - 01-14-2009, 12:32 PM

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.174 (EastAsia)
Contains English; from IndoSat
This will load to any carrier's 8320

Package Version: 4.5.0.174
Consisting of:
  • Applications: 4.5.0.124
  • Software Platform: 2.7.0.92
  • File name: 8320EastAsia_PBr4.5.0_rel174_PL2.7.0.92_A4.5.0.124 _Indosat.exe
  • File size: 87.99MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

Download here:
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B53786A2C5FA09

Instructions for installing on ANY 8320 (regardless of carrier)

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Prev. version of OS:

Thanks to dynamicrockstar469 for finding this.

I can't get the software to load. When I open the desktop manager I get a screen that gives me the option of which OS to install. When I pick the new OS and pick next it says "no software update is required for your device." I currently have 4.5.0.110 on the device.

under loader files I only have the folder 8320-v4.5.0.124_P2.7.0.92.

I have deleted Vendor.xml

Any ideas?

Use the apploader.exe to load the software

It's going to be difficult to improve over 4.5.0.110, but I will give it a whirl and see. JL_Cmder to the rescue if it sucks.

Because DM 4.6 and 4.7 will run the automatic update and load a "virtual" copy of the vendor.xml file on your PC, that kills the process.

All covered in another long thread on the forum from guru John Clark.

The only problem I've had with this OS is that after a couple of days the Stnadby mode quits qorking. A battery pull fixes it for another day or two.

When I run "Loader.exe", it doesn't find anything to update. I have the latest OS downloaded and installed. vendor.xml has been deleted. Am I missing something?

since this appears to be the new standard, maybe that instruction should be in bold for this and future OS release posts. or at least maybe a "new install procedure" notice within the OP.

i realize the instructions should be read and followed, but now that everyone has become conditioned to deleting vendor.xml, that's now the response, or at least prefaced ("i deleted the vendor.xml") when a problem is posted.

we should now help everyone get acquainted with loader.exe or we'll go through this again and again.

hahaha, yes maybe we could precede each OS question with "vfd" as a shortcut for "vendor file deleted".

I am wondering if the link is partially broken. It is taking over two hours to download. I have DSL so it should take seconds.

No it shouldn't. The file's nearly 90 Megs. On a DSL connection, it should take about 15-30 at least, or more if a lot of people are downloading.

Got it installed on my 8320. Upgraded from xxxx.81. I was beginning to have memory issues with .81. Battery pull would get me up to 11.9megs free. End of the work day I would leak down to 2megs!!!

Right after install I showed 19megs free. Reinstalled Viigo last night (Had removed it hoping it would help with my memory leak issues). Right now I'm sitting at 17.9 megs free. We'll see how much leaks away as the day goes on.

BeeJive, Opera Mini, Viigo, Google Maps, and Facebook App are the main aftermarket apps I have loaded. So far looks like quite the improvement over .81. Can't compare it to the builds in between.

I installed 110 on my T-mobile 8320 and sadly did not see most of the improvements some of you listed here. In particular my wireless connection seems to have slowed down quite a bit. I'm thinking about reverting back to the t-mobile software--can any of you point me to a link explaining how to do that?

Had the same thing when I first downloaded, it stopped about half way through. I downloaded again with no issues at all, not sure why it happened but might have been a hiccup from my wireless router. Second time worked like a charm and took about 13 minutes (have a smoking connection). Installed and all went very smooth. I would shut down everything else and be patient and should work great.

I think it's the server. I'm having issues right now. 7MBit Cable that usualy downloads at 500KB/sec+ I'm downloading at 70-90KB/s and it's dropped 4 times without downloading completely

@ 22%, and have to wait 14 min (if it finishes)

I followed all instructions and nothing happened. I have done updates from this board before. But looking at everything posted its not doing anything.

I delete the vendor file. Don't even bother with the Desktop manager, double click the the loader file and nothing happens.

Weird, I've downloaded the OS update three times now but everytime I click on it to install the new OS onto my PC I get an installer error message saying that it may not be a true Windows installation program and to check with the vendor.

EDIT: nevermind, the 4th time is the charm I guess. It worked after I re-downloaded it again this morning. I haven't had a chance to install it on my BB yet though.

Hi all,

Just trying to be clear on what we are all referring to as free memory. When I do my ALT+RCAPS+H, are we saying where it says File Free, that's the free "memory" as I have not see an actually label that says Free Memory.

Just double checking.

I'm installing this new update as I post.

It's a slow download here too, running about 120KB/sec...

Installed no problems and seems to be running OK.

Finally loaded. I had to delete my previous OS files on the computer. Did the installation again and it then noticed the update.

Good morning team,

Do you guys know what are the upgrades?

I have the previous release and I did not have any issues, I am wondering what are the changes so I can notice these changes.

Thanks team and have a great day!

Hello from San Diego!

Have had it installed a couple of days now without any issues what-so-ever. However, what is the "Wireless Upgrade" link under Advanced Options for? Does this mean we can download OS upgrades directly via our blackberrys?

I planned to upgrade from .110 this week, but first I want to see its performance before upgrading... Are there any problems occur yet?? How about the memory utilization?? is it increase the file free level??
