I have a Curve 8350.

I am receiving my email alerts and phone calls with no problem.

I am having issues receiving text messages. I am primarily only receiving them when I either power down, or remove the battery and power back up.

I tried this today with short term success from a thread I cant link to because of my own post count--

"Options, MMS

Multimedia Reception: Always
Automatic Retrieval: Always

Check Allow Delivery Confirmation
Check Allow Read Confirmation

Uncheck Reject Ananymous Messages
Uncheck Reject Advertisements"

.. but after several hours I've now missed several text messages that I retrieved after turning the phone off, then back on.

Try re-sending service books to your phone via the online BlackBerry log-in account you created when setting up your e-mail. This usually does the trick for me whenever I am having e-mail/SMS issues with my 8330.

did you always have nextel or did you switch from sprint to nextel????

there is a known texting issue with Nextel and BBerry MMS not receiving text. i received a pre production model and have had the issue ever since. the only way that i currently get texts is with a battery pull... unfortunately its a work in progress... they need to fix soon.

although some say they dont have too many issues but it is very common.

If you call RIM they have a OTA fix that they are testing but officially the fix should be released (roomered) to be by the 15th of Feb.

I fixed all my texting issues by updating the OS software that's posted in the General Discussion area (Attention: Latest OS: 8350i v4.6.1.142 / 4.6.1.83 (English + Multilanguage) )

Try it.

if you dont upgrade to the new OS (which you should) then you can try deleting all your service books EXCEPT (provisioning) then log into your bb account and resend your service books. It lasted longer than a battery pull and seems to help. The latest OS did have a fix in it. No issues since last ugraded.

Definitely update your OS, it is easy to do and I had similar issues that were all cleared up by doing it.
Frankly, I questioned doing such a thing on a new phone and thought to myself... what the heck am I doing, will my phone be totally screwed up by relying on a forum board for something like this? And then researched a little, bit the bullet and did it, and was very thankful i did.
Believe what you read here, there are some smart people associated and I don't think they will steer you wrong... and, oh yeah, update your OS by following the directions on these boards.

you'll find WAAAAYYYYYY better support here than if you were to try calling RIM/Sprint support. i'd venture to guess that you'd even get a quicker response, depending on what time of day it is.
