Default Contacts...hidden?

Please Login to Remove!

I had a strange occurance with my phone, and I haven't read another like it on the forum yet.

About a week ago I upgraded my OS to 4.5.0.110 from 4.3ish (I think). During the tail end of the install I unplugged my phone from my computer because I thought it was frozen (I know now it just takes a while). Anyway, my contact list was deleted in the process...or so I thought (I know, I should have backed up first - mistake number two).

I asked someone for a phone number via text, and when she texted me the number I highlighted it and the name it was previously stored as showed up. This leads me to believe that somewhere in my phone my contact list is stored, I just don't know where.

Ideas?

I've tried the following as suggested by people on another forum:
1. Battery pull
2. Initial setup tells me I have no contacts stored on my SIM card
3. No filters applied on my address book

On your BlackBerry, go to Options > Status > press the Menu key > Database Sizes.

Scroll to Address Book. There will be a number on the left either as 0/0kb or if there IS anything in the Adress Book, something like 148/37.4kb.

What does your numbers say?

Ok to fix your issue go to the address book. Click Menu and click on filters.

Uncheck whatever is checked. You should now see your address book.

Oh yeah you're welcome lol

I've already tried this as I stated in my original post on point 3.

Thanks though.

Oops. Then you have a corrupt address book. Go to DM, click on back/restore, click advanced and clear the address book database on the device. Then have fun adding in all your numbers again.

I might have not been clear in my original post...

My address book works fine. I can add the person's name in, and I've already added a lot of people back. It just appears that the address book I used to have (with everyone's name) is still in my phone somewhere...just hiding.

Wirelessly posted

The way I see it, your address book is corrupted. If you don't think so, then try this: if you have outlook and DM 4.2+ then connect your bb to your computer and run DM and open outlook. Click sync in DM and do a one wy sync with outlook to see if any of your contacts show up in there. If they do but the data is scrambled, then your address book is corrupted. You'll need to delete the database for the address book on the bb to resolve the issue and re-enter your contacts again.

Do you have your Contacts stored on your PC through DM.

Not originally. I've since learned the art of backing up my BB, but this was just a stupid mistake...

Ok, forgive me, didn't read the whole page, are you able to sync them and are they on the BB or sim card.

I can back them up...but synching isn't happening right now. I'm downloading the latest desktop manager which will hopefully be compatable with Vista, because 4.2.2 isn't.

Download 4.7 and see if you can sync, then you can clear out your BB and re-sync and hopefuly fix the problem.

After you clear them out, disconect the BB and pull the battery for a few minutes, then re-sync and see if that clears it up.

Did this and I still don't have all the contacts I did before I put the new OS on here...

Are all of the contacts showing up in Outlook, or whatever you synced with.

All of the contacts I've added since I put the new OS on the phone, yes. The ones I had on here before are not.

And they are not on the sim and not back up prior to the os upgrade.
