Default Curve Newbee Needs Help

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a curve from my friend in exchange for my old Tilt. So far its really cool, but I have no idea where to start with my curve. I have a few things i want to be able to do, but I have no idea where to start. So I have a few questions?

1. I don't have the blackberry software that came with the phone, so what do I do?

2.Blackberry Messenger? Whats that? and is there a way to set up my own acct for that?

3.Deleting all the useless crap that came with the phone?

4.Lastly, what are some killer aps?

Thank you for helping me out with my newbee-ness.

1. Go to blackberry.com (or your carriers site) to download the software.
2. Blackberry Messenger, you can setup your own account but you can only chat with other blackberry users. AIM and Gmail chat have apps for BB.
3. You can go into settings -> advanced -> applications, applications and delete any "useless" apps that you would like by selecting and pressing the menu key.
4. Killer apps: Google Mobile (m.google.com from the phone), Opera Mini...search the forum for many, many, many more.

I guess my question regarding Blackberry Messenger is that it asks for a password that I don't have. I want to create a new account. Is there a way to do that. Thank you very much for helping me out.

It may not be a bad idea for you to wipe the device before you start to use it...

go to options -> Security Options -> General -> menu button, select wipe device.

That way all of your friends stuff is deleted off the device.

Thats a really good idea, but do I have to worry about re-installing everything back. Or does it just erase my friend's old data, and keep the core apps and programs? Again, Thank you very much!

If you want to be extra paranoid you can enable "Content Protection" then do the wipe. Content Protection is found in the Security Options -> General Menu same menu you found the wipe option in. Just beward the wipe take an hour maybe more.

You can find the latest OS for your device stickied at the top the forum, you can find download links to your carriers "official" OS on the BBFAQ section, in the article concerning upgraging your OS.

For killer apps, check the aftermarket software forum, many threads in there.
