This is my first blackberry and really dont know the answer to a couple of questions. Can anyone help ?

1) When i try to register at blackberry.orange.co.uk it says to enter my PIN and IMEI it says "this BlackBerry is registered with a different service provider. Please re-register this BlackBerry and verify the URL matches the one provided by your service provider"
(ALthough it was brand new from orange)

2) Secondly how do i get the sat nav or whatever up on it ?

3) Is there a way to connect to the internet without going through WI-FI as i dont have wifi at work i just want to connect the normal way like my other phones how can i do that ?

The Search function would really help you solve these issues:

1. Sounds to me like it was a refurb or not a new device and the previous owner did not cancel their BIS account and the PIN and IMEI is still tied to it. You need to contact the seller and apprise them of the problem. Ask that they contact their carrier and cancel the BIS account associated with that BB. That will release the PIN and IMEI so that you can use it. If they refuse, then ask for your money back. Simple as that. From the FAQ: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

2. GPS. Need to have Locatin Services On. Go outside in an area with a clear view of the sky and wait. Could take 15-20 minutes or more, particularly if this the first time to use it or your location has changed by a considerable distance. Check out the GPS Section. You will need a BB data plan and mapp application such as BBMaps or GoogleMaps to get useful information from the GPS data.

3. Get a BB data plan with will provide push email and Internet connectivity. Again, from the FAQ: What do I need a Data Plan for? - BlackBerryFAQ

If you have the 8320, your model doesn't have built-in GPS. It has WiFi instead. To use GPS you will have to have an external GPS receiver, maybe one with Bluetooth to connect wirelessly to your BB. Something like this: Amazon.com: Freedom Input Keychain GPS 2000: Electronics

Good catch Rambo. I didn't pick up on the 8320 not having GPS. Seems most do, so I just concluded it did also.

8320 has A-GPS or whatever it's called, right?

The 8320 does have GPS built in so i dont need an external device i checked that with blackberry !

Where do i get a BB plan from ? my provider or BB themselves ?

Orange with turn on BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) when you subscribe to it, it's different from mobile internet. You can activate this onto your plan over the phone for a fee.

Before your handset and plan can see each other, you need Orange to free the PIN up from the handset and lock it into you. The site above is the providers's BIS portal, which you will use to configure emails and service books etc.

You need to speak to level 3 support, I had a similar issue with my first BB a while back when it was locked to another user under Vodafone. Level 3 freed it up for me to register with.

OP, I have moved your thread to the 8300 section and renamed it to something a little more descriptive

Where did you get that info? It's clearly wrong. Always check Blackberry.com for specs.

If you use Google Maps it can triangulate but it's very inaccurate. If you want GPS nav you'll need a BT GPS puck.
