For some reason, I can only get my 8330 to work with one particular USB cable. I have tried several other cables, and I get "USB Device Not Recognized". Only one cable works correctly. It seems to be a bit thicker than the rest. What's failing here? I've tried all the USB ports, and they act the same. Tried other laptops - same thing. And the other USB cables do work with other devices, like cameras to transfer data.

Interesting... Does the connector on your phone seem lose at all?

99% of USB cables are the same, and as long as you are not using USB hubs you should be fine.

The USB cables on the back of your computer will be the most reliable.. Any front mounted USB ports/monitor USB ports maybe less reliable.

Actually, mine is ok with hubs as well - and, given that my desktop is 8 years old, that's a very good thing because ALL the USB ports are on the back of the tower.

I know with my Palm 800w which uses micro USB cable, there were at least two diff types of micro USB cable - one that syncs and charges and one that only syncs I believe. maybe there are diff types of mini USB cables (for our BB) ? Right now, I just picked up an older mini USB cable from my HTC PPC 6700, and it syncs and charges my Curve. I will find another mini USB cable in a few days and try again

It may be better to use the wire that is specifically designed for the BB if you are not following this practice

If it's under warranty might be worth taking it back.
